Olson describes himself as a lifelong student of "the beast called horse." He has been sketching, drawing, painting and sculpting since childhood. While living in Montana as a boy, he discovered the work of Charlie Russell. His desire to become an artist grew from there. He has worked as a cowboy, logger, miner, cement mason and farmer and puts these life experiences on canvas with great realism and flair.
